Tips To Stretch Throughout Your Work Day!

Happy Monday friends! I hope you’re having a wonderful day with friends and family. We have an extended weekend but I still wanted to stay in the habit and connect with you guys today. Today I’m sharing with you some ways that I stretch throughout the work day. Little moments do add up!

Since I have been working on running more miles throughout the week while still getting my strength training in, I’ve been focusing on recovery. Stretching is a huge thing for me and I find at least 5 minutes a day to move and stretch. My job is very sedentary so I have to force myself to move. Here are a few ways that I get moving throughout the work day!

Tip #1: Set stretch/walking timers

As my old office, I would walk around the building at least once every hour. This way I was able to get my bathroom break, get my steps in, and just stretch out my legs. I can’t quite do this at my current job so I make sure to check in every hour. Even if it’s just a 5 minute stretch, I set the time and get out of my chair. Touch your toes, stretch your arms over your head, anything. If you type all day, stretch out your fingers and wrists! Seriously, it’s the best feeling ever. If you’re a morning gym person, moving and stretching throughout the day will keep you from getting stiff by the afternoon.

Tip #2: Use YouTube videos to guide you

There are so many awesome fitness platforms with stretching video routines. You don’t even have to get fancy with it! YouTube is a great resources to find short videos that you can knock out at your desk. If you need to move or even need a bout of inspiration, I would do a quick video by Yoga With Adriene! She has shorter videos and even some desk yoga to walk you through a good stretch!

Tip #3: Use small tools to help

This one requires a few other resources. Sometimes, I’ll take my R8 Roller to work to help me stretch and hit a few sore spots in my legs. When I was injured and doing rehab for my leg, I would also take my resistance bands to work to help me do my exercises. While you don’t have to get this extra about it, a small golf ball under the arches of your feet works wonders! Especially if you wear heels, having this handy to help you stretch and recover is a game changer! Give it a try and you’ll be hooked!

These are just a few ways that I use to stretch throughout the day. I truly believe that every little bit helps and will keep you from feeling like the tin man. As someone who works out frequently in the morning, I think that this has been a huge game changer for me. Let me know what you think!
