The Rainy Weekend

We had so many plans for the weekend but then Tropical Storm Cindy reared her ugly head. Most of the rained passed by the weekend but our outdoor plans weren’t feasible anymore. It sucked but we went with plan b!

Saturday

Since our backyard was completely soaked and we couldn’t finish our yard work, I hit the gym while Jordan took care of some errands. I’m really into lifting weights recently so I was glad for an extra gym session. It was so humid though and once I finished up at the gym, the storms started again.

70 pounds on the Clean!

I was really proud of myself because I bumped up to seventy pounds in a type of lift. My shoulders are so sore and my hands have some callouses but I’m so happy. There’s something about heavy weights that just makes you feel so awesome!

Once I got home and brought all the storms with me, Jordan and I relaxed and watched some movies. The rain went into the afternoon so we were basically stuck indoors.

Jordan received a phone call in the early evening about his step dad. It seems that he went to Urgent Care complaining of symptoms similar to an allergic reaction but he was actually having a heart attack. Luckily it was caught quickly and they were able to rush him to the hospital and operate. He made it through the surgery with no complications. We opted to let him rest and visit the next morning.

Sunday

I was looking forward to heading to the park for a walk but was woken up by a flash flood warning on my phone. I was not a happy camper. My head hurt and I was dizzy from lack of sleep. However I couldn’t go back to bed so I opted for some yoga.

After my yoga session and waiting out some of the storm, Jordan and I ate breakfast, picked up some stuff for the house and went to visit his step dad.

Starbucks drinks to lift our mood a bit!

Modern medicine is so awesome. Other than being a little groggy and sore, John was fine. Obviously, a heart attack is a major deal and there will be further visits in the future but he will going home soon. A lifestyle change will be in the works since he works a sedentary job. However, he’s young and we have no reason to believe he won’t be back to his normal self soon. We spent most of the morning goofing off with him and Jordan’s mom. Sometimes having family members with you through hard times makes it a little more bearable.

Torchy’s makes the best tacos!

After a stop at Torchy’s, we were on our way home to do our Sunday duties. Laundry, meal prepping, and cleaning rounded out our evening. I never thought I would be happy to go to work but after something like this, it’s nice to get back to a routine.

When my father passed away, he was admitted to the hospital in a typical manner. I’m not super close with my in-laws but it’s still not something you want to see others go through.

Heading into another week with a bunch of rain in the forecast. I’m ready for the rain to go away soon so we can enjoy this summer! Where your weekend plans rained out?
