The Importance Of Rotating Your Running Shoes!
Happy Wednesday! We’re halfway there guys, we can totally see Friday on the horizon! Today we are going to keep talking about gear. More specifically, running shoes! Now first things first, you should have shoes dedicated to running. Unless we are running as part of the metcon when I go to crosstraining, I don’t wear running shoes. It’s important to have specific shoes for different activities. Now that we have that sorted out, here’s something you may not have known. It’s actually best to have a few shoes that you rotate through and here’s why!
Rotating Your Running Shoes: Last Longer
After learning that I wear out the outside of my sore (it’s so bad, y’all), I’ve learned that I can make my shoes last longer if I rotate through three of them. You can buy three pairs of the exact same shoe or do what I do and buy them in intervals. By rotating your running shoes, you split up the miles evenly and you’re not blowing through them as quickly. You’re able to make a pair of shoes last longer than if you were just using one pair.
Rotating Your Running Shoes: Protect Your Feet
Depending on your running workouts, you may need different support. Certain runners prefer lighter shoes for speed work while others like more support on long runs. Being able to pinpoint what your needs are and buying the shoes for these workout, you’re able to give your feet the support they need and even reducing the risk of injury.
Rotating Your Running Shoes: They React Better
This kind of ties the first two points together but after running, the cushion in your shoes takes about 24 hours to dry and go back to their original shape. Just like a good mattress, you want your cushion to match your feet. If you’re not rotating your shoes, you’re probably not giving your shoes enough time to rest. If you use the same shoe back to back, you may be running on less than desirable cushioning.
Those are three main reasons why you should rotate your running shoes! If anything, it’s an excuse to find cute shoes to add to your collection.
