Summer Goals

Happy Monday friends! I hope you’re having a wonderful day already and that today is the start of a good week! I had a great weekend celebrating my 200th Peloton spin class with friends and just enjoying the beautiful weather. While I know it’s technically not summer time yet, it’s nice and toasty in Texas and Memorial Day Weekend is around the corner! I wanted to pop in today and share a few of my summer goals.

Summer Goals

Since there aren’t many races in town during the summer months, I’ll most likely take a break from that. This year hasn’t been very race heavy for me and I’m okay with that. I’m not even doing a marathon this year because I’m still working on getting faster with my half marathon. Getting speedy will be my main goal this summer. Obviously, I will have to deal with heat acclimatization again but once I get over that, I’m sure my legs will be speedy again. My long run this past weekend was a bit rough due to the weather but I was actually surprised at how good my legs felt during it. It will be a growing process for you.

My other big goal for the summer is to not get carried away with all the sweets and treats. I would be lying if I said that I didn’t have a sweet tooth. Although mine comes and goes so that’s why at times I could care less for sweets and other times, that’s all I want. With summer time comes ice cream so I’ll have to limit the amount of ice cream so I don’t have stomach issues on my long runs. It’s a trial and error kind of thing so I’ll just have to take it day by day and see!

Other than that, a big goal this summer is to try the free classes available around town. There are free workouts almost everyday in the City so I’d like to stop and check out a few. It will get me out of the usual routine and just shake it up! The heat can get pretty bad in town but being able to try new studios or new exercises can make it worth it!
