Staying Warm and Safe This Fall
Happy Wednesday friends! I hope your week has been a great one so far. We are experiencing fall weather again in Houston so all is well. Personally, I LOVE it when the temps drop so it makes perfect sense that I’m enjoying today’s topic. With the season change, the temps drop and the sun sets sooner. However, miles still need to be run so we have to find ways to stay warm and visible. That’s where the Buff Dryflx Collection comes in handy!

Staying Warm
I get it. Not everyone enjoys the cooler weather. I think I’m a bit of an anomaly when it comes to runners in the South because I wear shorts until the temps get below freezing. I like to be free and wear what I need to. However, when it’s windy, the cold can be a bit much. Depending of what your natural body state is, it’s a good idea to have cut off temps for certain clothing items. I won’t wear capris or pants until it’s in the 30s but I’ll wear gloves and a headband to protect my ears around 40s. It’s also good to be mindful of the fact that you will warm up once you get moving. I like to dress for 10 degrees warmer than the current temperature. Once I get moving, I find that I warm up pretty easily and I’m not overdressed. Find what works for you and stick to it.
Since you’ll be breaking into a sweat, you need to stay warm but want to wear something that will dry quickly. There’s nothing worse than being wet and cold. This can also be dangerous if you’re exposed for too long. That’s why I’m a huge fan off the Buff Dryflx Collection. I have a headband and a neckwarmer that is super breathable but also dries quickly. The neckwarmer is great to cover up my mouth or my nose if it gets too chilly outside. I can breathe comfortably and doesn’t have to worry about the condensation sticking around too long!
Stay Safe
As runners, we need to always have safety in mind. In the summer time, I didn’t have to worry too much about being seen. I would run in the morning and my afternoon run was flooded with sun. However, now I’m lucky if I get to make it home before the sun completely sets on me! I don’t want to skip out on my run so I make an effort to still get outdoors. I live in a well lit neighborhood and I also go to a part that has floodlights on their trail. However, I also like the fact that the Buff Dryflx Collection is also made of reflective materials. It’s not large and bulky like some reflective gear can be. The headband and neckwarmer are made with 4-way ultra stretch fabric that flexes as you move and is reflective enough for others to see you! You can wear it and forget you even have it on!
Whether you’re out for a run, cycling, or walking your pup this fall, these are great tips to stay warm and safe!
