Running & Listening to the BibRave Podcast!

Podcast

Happy Friday friends! It’s been a busy week but I’m still standing so that must mean I made it! I hope your week has gone well. I’m excited for this weekend because as soon as I finish my long run, I’m officially in taper mode. As for today, I wanted to drop in and share one of my favorite podcasts. It’s no secret that I’m a BibRave Pro and I have been welcomed into the community with open arms. It’s been awesome meeting new people who enjoy running as much as I do. The BibRave Podcast is hosted by Tim and Jessica Murphy and it’s about all things running! Here’s why you should give it a shot!

The BibRave Podcast

Like I mentioned, the podcast is about all things running. There’s an episode out every week on Fridays. This works out perfectly for me because I travel on some weekends and it makes my drive much more enjoyable. I know some podcasts can get boring and seem to drag on but that’s not the case the BibRave Podcast. Tim and Jessica do a great job in keeping the conversation on track and tend to circle back to the topic if any tangents happen. Each episode is about an hour long so it’s great to listen to on a commute or while you’re running!

The podcast topics vary but it all has something to do with running of course. Guests include sports doctors, nutritionists, and fellow runners. Most of the episodes I’ve listened to are more recent but all contain great tidbits of information. It’s curious to me to hear how runners from different background approach race day. Hearing about runners that eat and go back to bed before long runs and those who can go on 10 mile runs on an empty stomach is pretty interesting to me. Also, I’m not a trail runner at all so it’s cool to hear runner stories about the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc and the Western States 100. There’s nothing quite like getting you motivated to run than hearing about epic trips and crazy adventures involving waist deep creek crossings. Also, that makes my road races seem like a breeze!

One of my favorite episodes is episode #104: First-Time Marathons – the Dark Place and the Wall. I’m currently training for my second marathon so I do know a bit about the emotional roller coaster that can happen on race day. It’s also interesting how other runners address it. It’s easy to think that feelings of inadequacy don’t happen to others but it’s quite refreshing to know most everyone experiences it. Whether it’s your first marathon or you’re a seasoned marathoner, this episode provides some good info when it comes to the mental aspect of marathon training. As much as we work on becoming stronger runners, marathon training also works on your mental strength and discipline.

Jessica and Tim make you feel like you’re joining them for a chat over coffee. You’re instantly engaged and the episodes tend to fly by! I’m currently working my way back through the catalog but I’m always excited for new episodes! Whether you need something to listen to while you run or you want to make your commute a bit more exciting, give the BibRave Podcast a try! You can check it out on iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher, and Google Play!
