Running For Chocolate!
Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope you’re having a lovely week. I’ve been working around these random rain showers that keep popping up during the week. I’m all for the drop in temperature but I also work in construction so rain isn’t always my friend. Either way, I’m still jumping for joy because *drum roll* I signed up for another race! Okay, yes you’re probably not surprised (I think I caught the racing bug bad this year) BUT, this one is a super fun one! It’s the Hot Chocolate 15k! I’ll be running the Houston date in February and even though it’s a bit away, I’m so excited!
This will actually be my second time running this race. I originally signed up to do the 15k in January this year but I had to drop down to the 5k due to personal reasons. However, race day was absolutely awesome. There was a nice chill in the air and even though there was a drizzle, that didn’t dampen the spirits. The race volunteers were amazing and the whole event ran smoothly. AND THERE WAS A MUG OF CHOCOLATE AT THE END!
Every finisher of the Hot Chocolate 5k/15k gets a Finisher’s Mug with a cup of chocolate, chocolate fondue, and many other dip-able snacks and treats. Seriously guys, it was perfect. I’m hoping this time around the weather will be just as nice so the hot chocolate will warm me right up! I’ll be honest, when I ran it this year I was “meh” (again, personal reasons) but the chocolate made me happy. Everyone was just so gosh dang happy, it was hard to stay down in the dumps.
Now this race only gives medals out to the 15k option (another reasons to sign up for that option) and it’s a cute little chocolate bar! It’s not edible, don’t worry but it really shows that this race goes all out!
If that wasn’t all, every one who participates get an awesome full-zip jacket with a hood–in a stunning merlot for women and black for men! I still have last year’s pullover and I absolutely love it. It’s sturdy and very soft. I really love the color choice this year and I’m sure I’ll be wearing it often!
What are you waiting for? You definately don’t want to miss this race! I’m already excited even though it’s a bit away. I’ll be thinking of the nice cool weather and sipping hot chocolate as I log through these hot and humid miles. If you’re in Houston, you should definately join me! Also, the Allstate Hot Chocolate 15k/5k has multiple dates around the country! Check out their website here and use code BRHCHouston to receive a free armband when you register!
