Running Happy with Brooks Glycerin 17

Happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! Mine was filled with beautiful weather and an awesome long run! Took a bit of nudging but I got out of my comfort zone and ran some awesome splits. There’s something about a good run that just sets you up for a good week. One thing every runner also knows is that shoes can make or break your run. That’s why I’m here to tell you why I run happy with the new Brooks Glycerin 17!

I’ve actually worn Brooks before but that was when I first started running. Since then, I’ve lost weight and gained muscle and I feel like my stride has changed a bit. I’ve progressively moved to a more neutral shoe and when I checked out the Glycerins, I fell in love! Not only that but these are the shoes that Des Linden uses to train, so that must make anyone faster right?! Well maybe not but a girl can dream!

One thing that is a huge bummer is when you are putting in the miles and your feet feel it. The Glycerin 17 has just enough cushioning so you can run happy. The design is sleek and doesn’t have a bulky feel even with the cushioning. These road shoes aren’t super stiff so you are also able to get the full range of your foot with each stride. I took these out for a speedy run on the first wear and they responded very well. I didn’t feel like they needed to be “broken in”. The shoe had enough cushioning without completely suffocating my foot.

These shoes are made for running but I also have used them for cross training sessions in the gym. Not only were they comfortable, but I found that they had enough grip so I felt steady during my lifts. Whether it’s on pavement or concrete floor, these shoes have enough grip so you don’t have to worry about slipping.

I would consider the Glycerin 17s a good shoe for long runs. Whenever I pick a shoe for long runs, I tend to pick something that won’t give me blisters and will continue to give me support hours in. I believe this is also a “heavier” shoe, if that’s something you take into consideration. However, I didn’t really notice much of a difference between the Glycerin and the other shoes in my rotation. It’s a matter of personal preference!

No matter what part of the running spectrum you’re at, these shoes are a must! With neutral support, these will keep your feet comfortable and supported. Give these a try so you can run happy as well!
