Relaxing Beach Weekend!

This weekend was a nice break from our usual routine. My husband’s dad and step mom visited from Kansas so we spent our weekend at their timeshare on the beach!

Jordan and I drove down to Galveston on Friday. I had SUCH a long day but it was nice to catch up and enjoy time with family. After hitting up Chuy’s for dinner, we played Rummy. Even through sleepy eyes, I won!

Saturday was spent walking and enjoy as much of the island as possible. Jordan and I got up early to hit the fitness center at the resort. After a disastrous treadmill, we walked on the beach. I don’t think I will ever like running on treadmills. Running outside is the best thing in the world to me!

Later it the morning, the whole gang went shopping in Galveston’s Historic Strand District. The weather was perfect, 80 degrees and clear skies. There’s always fun shops to go into but nothing really caught my eye on this trip.

Lunch was as the famous Gaido’s Seafood restaurant. I’m not a huge seafood fan but I did find something I liked. Plus, the slice of cheesecake after the main course was AMAZING!
After a much needed nap and a Law and Order: SUV marathon, we played another round of card. This time I didn’t have as much luck but I fought until the end! My mother-in-law always brings the best snacks which always makes card games more fun.

We had a quick breakfast Sunday morning before saying goodbye to Jordan’s dad and step mom. We had to get back to Houston and pick up our sweet pup. It’s always funny to pick up Snowflake from boarding because she’s practically knocking over the staff as soon as she sees us.

I was feeling extra lazy so I stuck to crockpot chilli for meal prep this week and we had some pulled venison my father-in-law brought us from Kansas. After all the walking in the sun yesterday, being lazy didn’t sound like a bad idea!

I’m so glad we were able to see Jordan’s family and spend some time on the beach this weekend. I have a busy week ahead so I was grateful for the extra rest!

How was your weekend? Are you good at card games?
