Race Fun With Snowflake!

Scoobtober Race

Happy Wednesday friends! I hope you’re having a great week. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that I’m taking a bit of a break from running at the moment. We can’t quite figure out how or when it happened but we believe I have a lovely calf strain. It explains the limp I had after finishing the Chicago Marathon and the reason why I haven’t quite felt 100% in my running since then. Going to rest up and switch up my exercise routine until it heals! That’s why I’m very glad that my pup, Snowflake and I are participating in the Scoobtober Virtual Run!

My limp has since disappeared but I’m definitely not speed walking any time soon. However, that’s the beauty of a virtual run! You can do it at your pace and where ever you’d like. The weather has gotten quite a bit cooler here but that’s perfect weather for Snowflake and me! She tends to get very excited and wears herself out easily. The fact that the weather is cooler means that I can keep her outside for longer walks. We plan on getting outside for about 30 minutes at a time to knock out these miles.

To be honest, Snowflake may have gained a couple of pounds from being inside all summer. She was plenty spoiled and stayed indoors due the Texas heat. Now that the temps have dropped, you can’t keep her inside the house! Being able to knock out miles for a good cause (and use it as rehab for my leg) is great! Just like humans, our pets need to stay active and get their hearts pumping too. As much as I like to play “Hey, give me that!” or tug-o-war around the house, going on walks around the neighborhood is just a bit nicer! One of the reasons why I picked the Scooby-Doo Run Series is because part of the race registration goes the Best Friends Animal Society. Races are fun but being able to support a good cause at the same time is so much better!

I’ll be back next week to share how the Scoobtober Virtual Run went for us. I have a feeling that Snowflake is going to enjoy these daily walks!

Have you ever run a virtual race before?
