Quick Stretches For The Work Day!
Raise your hand if you’re stuck at a desk for a majority of your day! It’s not uncommon to find ourselves behind a computer for a long time. Whether we work a desk job or we commute to work, we tend to spend a lot of time sitting down. This isn’t necessary a bad thing but it’s important to take breaks and get those legs moving! I figured I would share some of my quick stretches for the work day! These stretches can be performed anywhere and will give you the small breaks you need to help you get through the day!
Quick Stretch #1
This is a simple one but if you actually think about it, it can be pretty hard! Get up and sit down WITHOUT using your hands. Some of us plop down in our chairs and use our hands to press up from our desk. By practicing sitting down and standing up without using your hands, you’re forcing your muscles to fire up. If you do this a few times in an hour, you’ll get the blood flowing and wake up a bit!
Quick Stretch #2
Hold your right hand in front of you. Use your left hand to pull back on your fingers and really stretch those arm muscles. Repeat on the other arm. If you’re working on a computer all day, this stretch will feel really good. You don’t realize how tense your arms get throughout the day. It’s good to do this stretch a few times throughout the day.
Quick Stretch #3
Shrug your shoulders and bring them up all the way to your ears. Breath in as you do this and hold your shoulders by your ears for four seconds. Relax your shoulders as you breathe out. Repeat this a few times and end by nodding your head yes and shaking your head no.
Quick Stretch #4
Sit up tall in your chair and use your left hand to reach across your body and grab the right side of your chair. Hold for a few seconds while you let your gaze rest over your right shoulder. Repeat on the other side.
