Peloton Homecoming 2019!
Happy Monday friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! This weekend was a busy one for me and a rainy one but I made it though. Last weekend I was in New York and I had an absolute blast. One time a year, home riders from all over the country visit New York to take classes in studio and participate in the celebration. I had the opportunity to attend this year so I wanted to share a bit of the weekend!
My flight landed in New York on Friday morning after a super busy week. Most of the flight was spent sleeping so I received my second wind when I stepped off the plane. After making my way to my Airbnb and picking up some coffee, I walked the High Line to pick up my credentials for the weekend!
Most of the events were held in Chelsea and the weather was forecasted to be chilly and drizzly. Luckily, I’m a fan of this weather so walking was a breeze for me. Peloton was holding a 5k for the members that afternoon along the Hudson River. I quickly changed and went to Hudson River Park!
Our credentials were ID bracelets with our leaderboard names that were scanned to let us into events. It was actually pretty neat!
There were many of the instructors mingling with the members and it was a great time. They greeted us like old friends and I truly felt welcomed. After a quick warm up, we were off!
This was my first time pushing speed since my half marathon so it was great! My legs felt so good and having Peloton instructors at the finish line was a treat in of itself. The medal was super cute and I will treasure for sure.
A couple of instructors brought their pups too so it was cute to play with the doggos while we waited for the group to get back. After the run, there was an awesome stretching session and more mingling! I stopped by the Chelsea Market on my way to my Airbnb to end the evening on a high note.
Saturday morning was more drizzly and chilly weather but that truly makes my Texan heart so happy. I went to Brooklyn so I could run across the Brooklyn bridge.
There were a few other runners and cyclists in the bridge but it was mostly empty. I took a moment to appreciate the island and the other bridges as well. It was a bit of a dozy going up the bridge for this flat lander but a great experience.
Once I filled up with some bodega coffee and a bagel, I got dressed for a full day! I enjoyed another lovely walk on the High Line on my way to the first meet and greet.
There were many opportunities to meet and chat with the instructors. I felt like they were organized very well and I enjoyed my time talking with the people I work out with weekly!
There was also a sweet moment with Christine. She is an inspiration to me because she’s such a strong athlete. She shares her struggles with identity and self esteem since she wasn’t small and petite like other girls. I identified with that immediately and it was so great to tell her that and thank her for being so real. Plus, she gives amazing hugs!
After meeting and speaking with some of the instructors, I went to check out the other installations. There were cool nutrition and health installations.
I also really enjoyed being able to have a quiet moment to meditate among all the crazy activities!
There was also a wonderful panel about health and wellness that I truly enjoyed attending. I absolutely love soaking in all the information these athletes have to give!
Since I had been on the go for a good part of the day, I took a moment for lunch and a sit down before heading to the Peloton Tread Studio!
The last time I attended the studio, I was healing my calf strain so I couldn’t go all out. This time, I had fresh legs and I felt so amazing during class! It was also fun to hang out with one of my favorite instructors before and after class.
Oliver is a super fun instructor and I always enjoy his classes. His upbeat attitude make the time breeze by! After class, I took a nap before going to Drybar and getting ready for the cocktail party Peloton was hosting!
Everyone was dressed to the nines and we were in for a treat! The doors opened and we had an awesome DJ set while we waited for the formal presentation.
After the first DJ set and the presentations for the evening, Beck came out and played for the crowd. It was a fun evening and I was able to mingle in the crowd as well as dance a bit on the floor.
The Peloton instructors were in their respective boxes but Ben Alldis and I got creative to get our dressy picture for the night. I had met him Friday and spent some of the morning with him as well. He’s such a fun guy.
The evening ended with another DJ set and a bunch of dancing. It was a long day but my heart was so happy!
I made my way back to my Airbnb and got some much needed sleep. My flight was later on Sunday so I was able to get some rest. We had some travel issues but I made it home Sunday evening so I was happy either way.
Peloton Homecoming was such a fun weekend and I enjoyed every moment of it. New York is such an awesome city and I enjoyed exploring it all! I have so many pictures in my camera roll from this weekend and I will truly cherish them. Fingers crossed that I get to go again next year!
