October Goals!

Happy Wednesday! I hope you’re having a good week. I’m currently suffering all the taper crazies. I’ve been good and haven’t ridden my Peloton or done heavy lifting. I’ve also stuck to my prescribed runs with plenty of rest in between. There’s been plenty of TV shows and YouTube videos for me to catch up on so couch time hasn’t been too bad. I wanted to pop in and share some of my goals for the month. I’ll have a more in depth post for the marathon on Friday!

October Goals

I always start these off with recapping the previous month. So September was….okay. There was nothing quite wrong with the month but I just started to feel my motivation waning. It was weird but I still did my best to hit my miles and stay accountable. I was hoping to break 100 miles for the month but that didn’t happen. I did ace my two long runs but the rest were cut short due to crazy weather or my knee feeling off. However, I was able to practice with the fuel and electrolytes I will receive on course so I still consider them successful long runs! The miles in September were few but valuable. After many Target runs and back and forth, I was able to find my race outfit! Of course the weather has changed multiple times in the past couple of days so now I’m searching for a back up. Either way, I followed through and found it! Nutrition went well and I’ve added plenty of greens into my diet so I feel good about that!

October Goals:

  • Run a strong marathon
  • Practice mindfulness
  • Aim for smart recovery
  • Explore new workouts
  • Get back to lifting

Obviously, all this training has been for the Chicago Marathon which is this weekend! I’ll write a whole post on strategy and my goals for that later. This will be my second marathon and I’m hoping for a good start and a strong finish! I’ve grown so much as a runner this summer and I’m excited for race day! After Chicago I have a few races lined up so I’d like to A) be able to walk and B) be able to function soon afterwards! I’ve been taking care of myself after long runs and that’s where mindfulness and recovery come in. I don’t want to rush the process so I’ll be checking in daily and adjusting my activity according to how I’m feeling. Since I do have so much planned, I want to recover well so I can participate in everything!

After the Chicago Marathon, I really want to get back to lifting and trying other workouts. I LOVE reformer Pilates and yoga so I’d want to jump into that. I’ve been staring longingly at my Peloton this week so I’m definately ready to hop on that and knock out some rides this month! I have a goal of getting to 150 rides as well and I’m so close! Running is and will forever be my first love but I like to switch it up and do other workouts to really appreciate the miles I get to run.

That’s it for me! I’m aiming for an exciting month full of fun trips and awesome races!

What are you goals for October?
