New Year Goals!

New Year Goals!

Happy Wednesday friends! I hope you had a fabulous time ringing in the new year with friends and family and you are feeling great today. Unsurprisingly to those who know me, I slept early on New Years Eve. My sleep schedule has been so messed up with the holidays but I am feeling much better since I am well rested! There’s something about kicking off the New Year with a workout!

Since it has been a bit that I’ve posted a running/fitness update, I figured I would pop in with some of my goals for the new year. Resolutions aren’t a favorite of mine and honestly, I tend to forget most of them after a week. While I am doing Whole 30 with a friend, I don’t see any major diet change in the future. Everything has been okay health wise so I don’t want to shake things up.

For 2019, one of my goals is growth. I focused on become a stronger runner last year and I was able to perform well at my goal marathon even though I somehow sustained a calf strain. It took effort to pull back during some parts of training but I know that they were crucial to not push me over the edge. In 2019, I want to continue to grow on that success. I plan to run another marathon (I’m currently deciding between two) and I want to build up my endurance and speed again. Working with my coach, Kyle, was a huge blessing and I’m looking forward to working with him again. My marathon goal would be to break the 4 hour mark. Depending on which race I do, I may throw in shorter (5k/10k) race goals as well.

I have been in the process of rehabbing my calf injury as well as a weird ankle issue that popped up. I’m getting better each day and I have had successful 3 mile runs on the treadmill and outside. I’m slowly adding the miles and listening to my body. It takes time to get back to 100% but I’m willing to be patient. Strength work has helped me to stay on track as well by giving me things to work on. I know of a few muscle imbalances and I want to get those taken care of before I dial up the mileage.

Personally, I want to grow in my faith. My wonderful mentor has asked me to join her in reading the chronological bible. It’s a couple of chapters each day and I think this would be so good for me. I have daily readings on my phone but there is something about a physical copy that makes it really sink in. There are also programs at my church that have truly tugged on my heart and I can’t wait to get more involved with serving and loving others. 2018 showed me how strong I am and I can’t wait to use that strength to shower others with love.

So there you have it, short and sweet. I’m truly looking forward to what 2019 will bring. I’m heading back to NYC at least once and I’m open to travel for races. I can’t wait to see what adventures this year holds!

Do you have any goals for 2019?
