May Goals!

Part of me is still in denial that’s it’s MAY! Love the meme about Justin Timberlake going around though! Time is truly passing and while it seems like I’ve been doing my running program for a while, I’m technically just getting into the “marathon training” portion of it. That being said, I’d like to share some of my goals for this month!

  1. Don’t miss a weekly long run
  2. Get new running shoes!
  3. Stay on top of crosstraining
  4. Keep nutrition in check!

This month, I’m focusing on staying on top of my running which means hitting all my long runs and speed workouts. I rarely miss my speed workouts (because I love the torture) but long runs did get away from me this last month. Focusing on getting those done and practicing with nutrition as well!

One of the reasons why I bailed on most of my long runs was due to awful blisters. I really, really gave the Ravenna 8’s a try but they just aren’t working for me. The toe box is way too narrow even with the wider size so I’m thinking of switching back to New Balance. I’ll be hitting the running store this week and hoping to get a long run pair!

Since I’m bumping up the miles, I’ve changed my membership at my crosstraining gym. I won’t be going as much but I don’t want to completely lose muscle mass and strength so it will be up to me to get in workouts on my easy days at home. Once I get into the habit of it, it’s not a problem. It’s just starting that habit!

I have lost a bit of weight and it’s all due to nutrition changes. Even with more miles, I want to keep my eating in check and make sure that my portions don’t get out of control. I’ve been using a food diary and some simple guidelines and it’s made all the change in the world!
