Long Run Recap!
What a nice weekend! The weather down in Texas cooled down again. I had a wild week and was definitely ready to knock out my long run.
Saturday
I woke up a bit sore from a week of crazy activities! I was able to do to physical therapy earlier in the week and was able to get a bit of mobilization back in my hip. I was scheduled for a ten mile run and I was mentally preparing all week.
Jordan and I got up nice and early and hit the trail! There’s a nice trail that runs behind our neighborhood that was 5 miles out and back to make up the 10 miles. We were up early enough to see the sun rise and experienced new neighborhoods. Jordan even spotted some field mice, haha!
It was definitely tough but I kept reminding myself that it was only five two mile runs. We didn’t stop but I did take walk breaks. I forgot my fuel at home but with Jordan’s support I was able to keep my head high and push through. When we finally made our way back home and I stopped in our driveway, I practically broke down on tears. It truly felt like such a victory to be able to run ten miles after this frustrating issue.
I sat in an ice bath and it truly felt amazing. I honestly believe that those help with recovery because I am never sore after long runs.
Jordan and I caught an early showing of Trolls and we loved it! We are suckers for kid movies and this one was truly adorable. I also devoured a pickle during the movie. I needed to make up for all the sweat that happened earlier, haha!
Afterwards, we met up with Jordan’s parents for a trip to Sam’s. Now that we have a house, we are able to stock up on the essentials so we took advantage of it. Early dinner at Saltgrass followed and I was tuckered out. After this long run, I truly felt like I could eat everything. I guess it was good that Jordan was driving and not me. I probably would have stopped and gotten more food!
Sunday
Oh Daylight Savings! I guess this one is the good one. I slept for a solid ten hours and snored apparently. I woke up feeling pretty well. My hip was a bit stiff and I still felt tired. We opted for a walk in the park to start our morning. I love walks on cool mornings and watching the ducks float by.
Church was great and I definitely enjoyed our sermon this week. It was definitely a hoot with our pastor’s crazy antics. The weather started to get muggy and the next thing, the sky was falling. It was the perfect weather to slip on the sweatpants and plop on the couch.
I’ve been on a soup/stew kick to make things easier for myself during the week. This week, I am making a crackpot vegan chilli. Once the sweatpants were on, I threw everything in the pot and just relaxed.
This coming week, I’m going to keep going to physical therapy and hope that I can get back to 100%. I have a half marathon in a couple of weeks so I hope to kick butt and nail it!
How was your weekend? Any fun plans?!
