Crazy Weather Weekend Update!
This weekend was one with all the seasons happening in two days! Honestly, Texas threw me for a loop when I woke up to temperature in the 70s on Saturday morning. It was hot and humid in DECEMBER! However on Sunday, it was a chilly 38 degrees! This crazy weather keeps you on your toes!
Saturday
I was really ready for my run on Saturday until I heard what the weather was going to be like earlier in the week. I’m a fan of the cold and even though it can get hard to get a good run in when you’re wearing 39 layers of clothing, I still prefer it over the heavy heat that Texas loves to throw at you. As soon as we stepped outside, we knew it was going to be sweaty.
We ran a good 8 miles before heading off to see Star Wars! We were pretty much soaked once we were finished. I’m glad I got in my 8 miles and I’m definitely ready for my taper. My body is tired and the holidays this year have just been a bit aggravating. Joy is easier said than done.
Star Wars was amazing! I was really yearning for a movie date and this movie came out just in time. Jordan and I are pretty much the elderly people you see at the first showings on Saturdays, haha! We just don’t care for going to the movies in the evenings. In the mornings, we are in and out and we still have a whole day ahead of us.
After a nice lunch, we decided to head home because traffic was getting ridiculous. We live near a shopping center and because of the holidays, it was definitely getting crazy. Also, we weren’t fans of this heat and humid wind that was hitting us.
We ended our evening just relaxing and spending time at home. I really just wanted a low key evening because I know that we were traveling this week and it was just going to get crazy.
Sunday
We woke up to wind whipping the tree branches against our bedroom window. I stuck my foot out from under the covers and I knew that the cold front had come in overnight. It was 35 degrees with a “real feel” of 21 degrees. It was cold and the wind was brutal!
Jordan and I went to the park to get our Sunday walk in but the wind was coming off the water and it was COLD. I was going to try to run a bit but I just felt way too miserable to try. Had we not had the crazy wind, it would have been a different story.
We finished our run quickly and went to Waffle House for breakfast. I have stopped drinking coffee and haven’t had any issues but my breakfast was not the same without it. Especially on this chilly morning! Due to our short walk, we got back home with some time to spare before church. It was nice to relax and warm up a bit before heading back out.
After church and lunch, we took Snowflake to get her nails trimmed. Unfortunately, she won’t be joining us for our trip up to Missouri this week so I wanted to make sure she was nice and clean before dropping her off at boarding later this week. She did so well and she impressed us by staying still when the guy worked on her back legs. Once we got back home, she promptly took a nap. She was probably worn out from the car ride and all the activity at the store, haha!
This week we are driving up to Missouri for Christmas. I’m terribly excited because I’ve been looking forward for this trip for a long time. This month has not been my favorite and I just hope this trip turns everything around. I have my longest run planned as well so we will see how it goes. I’m excited for the possibility of snow and some awesome football!
