Christmas Vacation and Weekend Update!

This post is coming a bit late because I may have been in a fog from all the yummy food I ate during Christmas vacation! I thought it would be weird with Christmas falling on a Sunday this year but it actually worked out well. I was able to plan an awesome vacation road trip to Kansas City with my husband and we had a BLAST!

Vacation running

Thursday

So Kansas City is about a 12 hour drive from where we live in Houston. Jordan was driving the whole way and my job was basically to keep him awake. We took off pretty early in the morning and we made really good time. Normally I would be anxious to get there but I knew I would get my workout in once we got to the hotel room so it gave me something to look forward to!

Unfortunately the weather forecast changed right before the vacation so instead of snow showers, we were just going to get rain. However, they had gotten snow in Missouri the week before and the ground was cold enough that there were still some snow patches in the county. Jordan and I stopped in a small town for a quick bathroom break and he played in the snow. I also saw some Amish people and apparently I was “freaking out”. Jordan grew up around all this so being a city girl, I thought it was pretty neat and I took a picture of their horse, haha!

We got the Kansas City in the afternoon and our hotel was so amazing. It was a Holiday Inn Express a few minutes from the stadium but the service was great! The breakfast was delicious every morning and they gave us cookies every night! I love this chain but this hotel seriously went above and beyond!
I got my workout in that evening and it seriously felt so amazing to be able to move and stretch after driving all day. I’m so thankful for Beachbody on Demand so I can stream my workouts ANYWHERE!

Friday

Vacation chiefs

So another thing about being a Kansas City Chiefs fan in Texas is that you don’t really have access to any Chief’s stuff in our STATE. You can occasionally find team stuff in Dallas stores but it’s rare. I usually buy Jordan’s gifts online and hope they fit. Since we were in KC, we hit up the ProShop at Arrowhead stadium and went to town! This vacation was basically my way to spoil Jordan so I let him have full run of the store, haha! He got himself some jerseys and some cold weather gear. He insisted on buying me something so of course I got Chiefs running gear.

Vacation salad

My delicious chicken salad!

We met up with Jordan’s dad and step mom and spent the rest of the day exploring the amazing shops at The Plaza. We had a blast seeing all the cool stores and just enjoying the nice weather. We had an early dinner at Houston’s and I got an AMAZING salad. I always joke that I never really know what the food is going to look like there because it is always served in such a fancy way.
After a delicious dinner and over 15,000 steps later, we went back to the hotel and had some delicious cookies that had just come out the oven.

Saturday

I decided to run inside because the weather outside was really cold for this Texan girl. I hit the treadmill for about an hour and a half and watched my shows on Hulu. Now, I don’t normally opt for treadmill runs but I have had this cough that won’t go away so I knew that running in the cold would make it worse.

Vacation run

Jordan and I spent the rest of the day doing odds and ends and preparing for the game the next year. We had another trip to the Plaza to catch our third movie of the week! We saw Star Wars, Assassins, and then Sing on vacation! It was pretty neat to visit a cheaper movie theater for a change.

Sunday
Vacation museum

A cool sculpture at a museum we stumbled upon

In tradition with our normal Sunday activities, Jordan and I went for a morning walk. The weather had warmed up a bit so I wasn’t completely frozen. I jogged a bit along the trail and I immediately fell in love. I wish we had more time on vacation so I could explore more of the trail. Running in new cities like that always makes me happy.
Vacation football

The Chiefs game was that night and we were so excited! The forecast called for showers so we got ready and had our ponchos on. The heavy rain lasted through the first quarter so we were a bit soaked. Luckily at half time, we were able to find hand warmers and a new pair of gloves for Jordan so we thawed out a bit. The game was such a blast and the atmosphere at Arrowhead is just amazing! We won the game so it truly made it a great vacation.
We drove back to Houston on Monday so today I will be washing all the laundry and getting all the meal prep done for the rest of the week! Jordan and I took an extra day off and I’m so glad we did because we get to sleep in and get ourselves back together before getting back into the work week.

How was your Christmas weekend?
