Adding Nourishing Snacks To Your Diet

Happy Friday! You made it through another week! Give yourself a pat on the back because I know it gets crazy sometimes. While this week wasn’t too bad for me, I’ve had weeks where every day was jammed packed and I even forgot to eat sometimes. Yes, I know, you’re probably saying “That’s not possible!”. I will admit that sometimes when I don’t plan properly and I don’t plan ahead, I’m stuck without a healthy snack and I’m forced to make a very unhealthy choice or chug water until I can get to my snacks. While I don’t advise doing this often, I know it happens! By adding nourishing snacks to your diet and making them easy to take with you, you’re saving yourself in the long run!

The key to this is making sure you are eating plenty of NOURISHING snacks. When I say that, I’m not talking about just any random protein bar. In fact, I would challenge you to eat a snack that is made up of real food. A great tip is to save protein powders when you’re pressed for time or as a quick recovery snack. If you can plan ahead a bit, I would make snacks with real food that will keep you satisfied.

So what’s a nourishing snack?

Great question! That would be something that has a good amount of protein and fat to keep you from getting hungry and even give you a bit of energy. With energy drinks, you’ll get a rush of energy only to crash pretty hard soon after. Eating a snack with some good fat in it will keep your energy levels high without the crash. I like to make muffins that are filled with fruit/veggies and are made with almond meal. These muffins are packed with flavor and are a quick snack! Aim for recipes that use real proteins instead of powders when looking for these quick muffins.

Don’t make it so complicated!

I know that sometimes it’s easier to reach for something that’s already made than to whip up something yourself. If that’s the case, I would recommend a Graze subscription box! There are so many different snacks that are sent to you on a weekly basis. Each little container is filled with an assortment of nuts, fruits, and seeds. Some snacks are more of an indulgence but if you balance them out, you’ll be fine! Easy services like these can take the guesswork out of it!

What’s one way you deal with hunger on the run? Do you have a nourishing snack you eat often?
